Connect your Canadian broker to WealthWise
WealthWise uses SnapTrade, a Canadian aggregator specialized in broker connectivity (the equivalent of Plaid for investment accounts). Instead of typing your positions by hand or importing a CSV every week, your accounts sync in a few clicks — and you see your portfolio's real evolution in near real-time.
How it works (in 30 seconds)
- You click "Connect my broker" inside WealthWise.
- An OAuth window opens at your broker (Wealthsimple, Questrade, or Disnat).
- You authorize WealthWise in read-only mode. Your password never leaves your broker's site.
- Your positions, transactions, and balances appear in WealthWise.
- You can revoke access at any time from your broker or from WealthWise.

Why connect rather than type manually?
- Time saved: no more manual copy-paste each time you add a position.
- Accuracy: adjusted cost base (ACB) computed automatically from the actual transaction history.
- Dividend tracking: distributions imported with exact dates and amounts.
- Multi-account view: see RRSP + TFSA + non-registered together in one view, without re-entering anything.
- CAD/USD conversion: applied automatically using Bank of Canada rates on each transaction date.
Prefer manual entry?
That still works. WealthWise remains an analytics tool that works with any broker — you can add positions by hand or import a CSV. The automatic connection is a bonus, never required.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is SnapTrade and why does WealthWise use it?
SnapTrade is a Canadian aggregator specialized in broker connectivity (similar to Plaid for bank accounts). WealthWise uses it to automatically import your Wealthsimple, Questrade, and Disnat positions in read-only mode — without ever seeing your passwords.
Are my broker credentials stored at WealthWise?
No. The connection happens via OAuth at your broker — your password stays at Wealthsimple, Questrade, or Disnat. WealthWise only receives a read-only access token that can be revoked at any time.
Can WealthWise execute trades for me?
No. Our tokens are read-only. We are not registered as a broker and will never execute transactions on your behalf. WealthWise remains a pure analytics tool.
Which brokers are currently supported?
Wealthsimple Trade, Questrade, and Disnat (Desjardins) are supported at launch. IBKR, RBC Direct, BMO InvestorLine, TD Direct, and National Bank Direct are coming soon.
Is the connection free?
Yes. All WealthWise users can connect at least one broker for free. Essential and Premium plans unlock more portfolios and more daily syncs.
