Connect Wealthsimple to WealthWise
Wealthsimple Trade and Wealthsimple Invest are the most popular online brokers in Canada — about 3 million Canadian users. But their interface only gives a surface view: today's value, raw performance. To truly understand how your portfolio behaves (FIRE, sector allocation, projected dividends, S&P 500/TSX benchmark), you need a complementary analytics tool.
WealthWise connects to Wealthsimple via SnapTrade, a Canadian aggregator specialized in broker connectivity. Your positions, transactions, dividends received, and per-account balances sync automatically — no manual copy-paste needed.
How to connect Wealthsimple to WealthWise (5 steps)
- Create a free WealthWise account
Go to mywealthwise.ca and create your free account with email + password or via Google. No credit card needed. - Open Settings → Connected brokers
Once in the app, click the Settings icon (top right), then select the "Connected brokers" section. - Click Connect → Choose Wealthsimple
Click "Connect a broker", select Wealthsimple from the list. A SnapTrade OAuth popup opens and redirects you to Wealthsimple's official site. - Authorize WealthWise (read-only)
You sign in to Wealthsimple as usual — your password is entered on wealthsimple.com, not on WealthWise. Approve the read-only access request. - Sync your accounts
Back in WealthWise, your RRSP, TFSA, FHSA, non-registered, and margin accounts appear. Click "Sync" to import all your positions and full transaction history.

| Monte Carlo FIRE projection | Yes, based on your real positions |
| Buy or sell assets | No — not our role, we're not a broker |
| Deposit or withdraw money | No — only at Wealthsimple |

Why this "read-only" positioning?
WealthWise is an analytics tool, not a broker or registered advisor. By staying read-only, we avoid any regulatory gray zone and your funds stay 100% at Wealthsimple. You retain full control of your money.
Security and privacy
SnapTrade is a Canadian aggregator (based in Toronto) that follows industry standards: end-to-end TLS encryption, short-lived OAuth 2.0 tokens, SOC 2 Type II audits. WealthWise stores your tokens encrypted in Supabase (database hosted in Montreal, compliant with Quebec's Law 25). No Wealthsimple password ever transits through our servers.
You can revoke access at any time:
- From Wealthsimple: Settings → Connected apps → SnapTrade → Remove access
- From WealthWise: Settings → Connected brokers → Disconnect Wealthsimple
Revocation is instant. Your historical data remains in WealthWise (you can delete it independently).
Comparison: Wealthsimple alone vs Wealthsimple + WealthWise
Wealthsimple offers a simple, efficient broker experience: buy/sell, automatic deposits, RRSP/TFSA. But their dashboards remain intentionally minimal — no FIRE analysis, no sector heatmap, no Monte Carlo projection, no index benchmark. WealthWise fills exactly that gap: you keep Wealthsimple to execute, and you use WealthWise to understand.
